Now You’re Speaking Our Language

We don’t have that much opportunity to agree with conservative commentators, but in a recent column in New Jersey’s Courier Post, Linda Chavez echoed what we've been telling everyone for the past six years : President Bush’s judicial nominees “are reshaping the courts much in the way President Reagan's picks did 20 years ago.” Chavez urged conservatives to commend Bush for his judicial appointees and stand by him in the future. She also pointed out that “[t]he president may have two more years in office, but his ability to appoint judges will be severely limited by the Democrats.” After years of the president using the judiciary to advance the agenda of the far right, we can only hope that Chavez's prediction comes true.
