Bush Appointments Dominate 8th and 10th Circuits

Last Thursday’s Senate confirmations of Bobby E. Shepherd to the 8th Circuit and Neil M. Gorsuch to the 10th Circuit have further tilted the balance in favor of Bush II appointments on the two heartland circuits. Bush II appointments now account for seven of the eleven active judgeships on the 8th Circuit and five of eleven active judgeships on the 10th Circuit. And if the Senate confirms Jerome A. Holmes to the 10th Circuit on Tuesday, Holmes’ seat will be the sixth Bush appointment out of twelve seats on the 10th. Debate is scheduled today and tomorrow, to be followed by a vote, on the Holmes nomination.

Check out recent press coverage of the Shepherd and Gorsuch confirmations.
