Casting About for a Politically-Motivated Fight over Judges

Salon.com has this post discussing our "summer of legislative red herrings." And it suggests that controversial judicial nominees are about to be added to the list. The post discusses the aims of conservative activist Manny Miranda. It includes a rebuttal to those (including Sen. Elizabeth Dole) who have defended Fourth Circuit nominee Terrence Boyle against charges that he broke federal law by ruling on nine cases involving parties in which he had a financial interest; a timeline tracing the twists and turns of the Boyle nomination process; and links to Miranda's agenda for making judges a decisive issue in up-coming elections.
