Controversial Nominees Still In Committee

In its business meeting today, the Senate Judiciary Committee favorably voted out Third Circuit nominee Kent Jordan and District Court nominees John Alfred Jarvey and Sara Elizabeth Lioi. Those nominations now go to the Senate floor for consideration by the full body. Significantly, the Committee did not vote on DC Circuit nominee Peter Keisler or any of President Bush's other extremely controversial nominees still in committee -- Terrence Boyle, William "Jim" Haynes III and William Myers III. Conservative activists are undoubtedly disappointed, having wanted desperately to use the rest of the week to make an election year issue of them. The Committee is currently holding a hearing on Fifth Circuit nominee Michael Wallace.
